SUPPORT COACHES & ATHLETES
Local Guil-Rock/Guil-Rand Ministries: We need your support of the Guilford, Rockingham, and Randolph County’s ministry staff, who are excited about serving local K-12 and College coaches and athletes. In their service, they need more than 1,000 Bibles/devotionals, 200 summer scholarships for athletes, sports equipment for all-ability camps, and league and club participation fees.
WHY SUPPORT FCA?
Featured Staff: Layne Downing (Area Ambassador)

My name is Layne Downing, and I am an area ambassador in the Guilford and Randolph County areas. I am a former Physical Education teacher, a wife, and a mom to two energetic girls. Our family loves being outdoors taking care of our goats and chickens as well as gardening, going for walks and spending time with our extended family. We stay active together mostly with basketball and soccer. I am the coach for both of my children and love seeing programs I was a part of when I was younger come full circle as a coach.
I was introduced to FCA as a middle school teacher. I quickly became a volunteer to show support to my students and coworkers. I saw God work in amazing ways through those students. They showed God’s love, compassion for others and leadership skills in inspiring ways. When I transitioned to teaching at the elementary school level, I wanted to offer this same experience to my older elementary students. I was able to start one of the first elementary Huddles in the area at Irving Park Elementary. Our Huddle grew from 7 students to around 20 students attending each week. Leading a Huddle of 4th and 5th graders was so fulfilling. Seeing their faith and knowledge grow helped me step into a career change after 11 years of teaching.
I started working with FCA in the summer of 2024 and I haven’t looked back since. My passion is to start Huddles within the elementary school setting to give students the opportunity to be involved with a Christian organization early on. Not only does this give them an awesome and strong foundation of faith, but it also provides students with a support group that will follow them through High School and possibly even college.
The transition from elementary school is so difficult for most students. Having the FCA family in their corner helps students be able to build positive, God centered relationships early on. Being surrounded by others who believe in God and will help keep each other accountable is an invaluable resource that can last a lifetime. Scripture tells us to “Go, therefore and make disciples of all the nations.” FCA allows us to do just that!
I now have Huddles at three different schools, Pleasant Garden Elementary (25 regularly attending students and two teacher volunteers), Grays Capel Elementary (25 regularly attending students and two teacher volunteers), and Southeast Guilford High School (70-75 regularly attending students, a student led leadership board and one teacher volunteer).
It is truly remarkable to see these students step up to the plate and share their faith with their peers, teachers and community! Your financial support is crucial to keeping these programs in the schools and helping them grow! Without donor funding, FCA goes away. I pray you will consider attending our Fundraiser Breakfast on May 17 at Greensboro Day School and help us ensure that FCA has the funding they need to keep doing God’s work daily.

Featured Staff: Anyya Street (FCA College Rep)

My name is Anyya Street, and I proudly serve as a College Representative for Guilford County FCA. I was born and raised in Kinston, NC, and I’m passionate about young people experiencing the love of Christ through the everyday lives of young adults. One of my favorite things to do include spending time with friends and family. I’ve always loved the energy and teamwork that come with athletics. That paired with my heart for ministry, is what drew me to FCA. It’s a unique space where faith and athletics come together.
